Assorted Miscellany
- The Condition of My House/Government Rebate Check: I wanted to buy a new computer or perhaps a better camera (when I’ll find time to take pictures with it, I don’t know). Instead most of my rebate check will be used to replace my back door, and possibly gut and remodel our bathrooms. Our house needs a lot of work, so I guess that’s a good thing. Also, I want to plant an apple tree. Jayme wants to plant a dogwood tree. Due to increased bee activity if we get an apple tree (and the fact that she always gets her way) we’ll be getting dogwood.
- The Condition of Assorted Projects: I have several active project, all of which are on hold. The highest priority project I have going right now is preparing for and taking the GRE’s. I haven’t really started preparing for them though. Is it possible to put something you haven’t started yet on hold?
- Rereading Books from Graduate School is Going Well: Right now I’m reading Jean Leclerq’s The Love of Learning and The Desire for God: A Study of Monastic Culture. Its quite good, Lecerq’s thesis is that while Monastic culture did maintain classical and patristic learning, they did so selectively, according to what was useful or edifying to them as monks. Dry at times, but a very important contribution to medeaval studies.
- My Wife and I are Starting to get some of the details of our life in order: Starting to get our finances pinned down.
- Wii Fit is out Monday: Finally, thank God.
- Less On The TumbleBlog: Because it looks like WordPress’s bookmarklet is out of commission until their next software release, and I’ll have to do everything manually, the Tumbleblog will be going a bit slower for a while. Not that anybody actually reads the thing, though.
